River House Pottery

Karen Herbert / RIVERHOUSE POTTERY is enthusiastic and passionate about making and teaching pottery.  She also teaches the pottery wheel and hand-building to both young and old alike. She has been attending many different types of workshops and classes to advance her skills on a continuous basis for years. She feels that being influenced by the more experienced potters will and has greatly enhanced her ability to work and teach with the fundamentals and the techniques of creative advancement of art pottery.

Over the years she has been presenting her pottery creations at various shows; which includes working with the Clay Alliance on various projects such as Empty Bowls and the Spring Show just to mention a few. She is now a board member of Clay Alliance as Education/Community Outreach Director.

She is passionate about teaching children from age six to twelve in an after school program (Click Here to see a list) called Enriching Kidz. It is a wonderful and rewarding program for the children, which gives them not only an introduction to pottery, but also gives them pride and confidence with every piece they make. Her personal feeling is that she can introduce, encourage, and accomplish getting the young students to feel good about themselves with pottery creating it with the friendly medium of clay.

Karen continues being excited in the growing field of art pottery and is very passionate about teaching both children
